I wrote previously about the theory of election and wondered on why people spend so much time on it. I received a few comments on it and a few emails, and still I think my time is better spent working out how to walk in an Holy upright manner before the L-RD. I did, however find an interesting post in which the poster refers to what he calls “Situational Election”. I think it is pretty interesting and some of the comments further embellish the fact that G-d knows all, so of course He knows who will accept the good news of Messiah and who will not. So as the poster writes:
So, based on this, it would appear that if God did desire that all would come to Him, He would give everyone the option, but He would know in His omniscience who would come and who would not, therefore it could be that He reveals Himself to everyone, but not in an equal magnitude.
It seems to me that it is a subject that is far beyond at the very least my grasp, I would guess the grasp of most. I still after 25 years as a believer, think of myself as a child before G-d, that my knowledge and grasp of things is like that of a child building a paper airplane as compared to that of an aerospace engineer designing a much more complex aircraft, everything from the propulsion to the aerodynamics are so much more advanced in the craft designed by the learned engineer. The concepts used are far beyond the grasp of the child, and I think concepts like election are our childlike ways of explaining the nature of G-d.
Once again, while interesting, I still think we would better serve the Holy One if we better knew how to walk, how to trust in him, and how to draw upon the power that G-d gives us to be more than conquerors.
