Found myself getting quite a chuckle from this post, once again about the Sabbath. The author is in his own words:
“Today Id simply like to consider whether or not changing worship from Sunday to Friday or Saturday is appropriate for the New Testament church”.
In the post he speaks of “traditional Sunday worship” and that churches that offer services at other times are “wanting to appeal to the rebellious side of this generation by breaking the Sunday tradition.” As a Messianic Jew this comes across as quite funny. I wonder if he realizes that nearly two thousand years ago there must have been many Jewish believers wondering the same thing, posting on papyrus scrolls on the breaking of the seventh day traditions, and how doing so appeals to the rebellious side of that generation.
Then he asks if there is anything Biblically wrong with a Saturday night service. As I covered recently it seems that there is plenty of Scriptural precedent for a Saturday night meeting of believers. It certainly seems like in the early verses of the twentieth chapter of Acts that Paul was meeting in the evening, and since it was after the Sabbath, Saturday night seems the most likely time the verses are referring to.
I will be interested to see what his argument will be. For the time being he is looking for input and ideas from his readers.
Now I am not trying not to mock his thoughts, but I do find it funny being Jewish how the tide of traditions has turned.
