Song for Shabbat (September 21, 2007) – Yom Kippur Edition

With tonight being both the weekly Shabbat and the Shabbat of Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) I thought it appropriate to have the Kol Nidrei for this weeks song. Kol Nedrei means “All Vows” and at this time when Jews all around the world are focused on sin and atonement from sin, they say this prayer to release them from any vows that they have made to God and not kept. The prayer is done traditionally prior to sunset, so that before the onset of the Holiday that the vows have been released. For me it is a time I try to focus on how to be more pure in my walk with God and although I know for certain that all my sins have been forgiven by the work of Messiah Yeshua, I do feel a kinship with Jews around the world and use the time to pray that they to can find lasting and eternal atonement from their sins through the Messiah that was sent for them (and for the rest of the world as well).

May you have a wonderful Yom Kippur. If you are fasting, may it be a special time that brings you closer to HaShem, and may it be a time for our people to begin to find their Messiah.

B”H
