For the song this week I wanted to go with something from a band called The Lonely Hearts. I very much enjoy their album, Paper Tapes, but I could not find any songs that I could include here, so as I searched I found that another band, with a much different style has a new album out. Thousand Foot Krutch and the song Fall’s Apart.
Lyrics:
Falls, apart, from the very start,
It falls, apart, seems like everything I touch,
Falls, apart, every thing around me,
Falls, apart, when I walk away from you/I wish I could, but I dont,
Always keep the promises Ive kept,
I wish I could, but I cant,
Always give, whatever I have left,And now its all so clear,
Doesnt anyone see whats happening here?…./It falls, apart, from the very start,
It falls, apart, seems like everything I touch,
Falls, apart, every thing around me,
Falls, apart, when I walk away from you/I know I should, but I dont always say,
What you want me to say,
I know I could, but I dont, always act, like everythings o.k./And now its all so clear,
Doesnt anyone see whats happening here?/Chorus/It falls, apart, from the very start,
It falls, apart, seems like everything I touch,
Falls, apart, every thing around me,
Falls, apart, when I walk away from you/Bridge/ Every thing I, have ever been made off,
Hates who I am, Im so glad you waited,
Cant get my mind, off how you could love me, Im so behind, youre so far above me/
And youll always be the wind under my wings, above me,
Youll always be the wind under my wings, above me/I(I), will not(not), let it go to waste, Im takin all(all), I got(got), and leavin this place,
And I(I), will not(not), be takin up space, Ill take my best(best), shot(shot), Im pickin up the pace/It falls, apart, from the very start,
It falls, apart, seems like everything I touch,
Falls, apart, every thing around me,
Falls, apart, when I walk away from you/(X2)Behind the Song:
“This song’s about the glue that holds us together. It’s about how things start to crumble when we walk away from the things God’s put on our hearts. When priorities get messy, if you will…and they do.” – Trevor McNevan (Thousand Foot Krutch)
Although this is a hard rock song, it still sings of a great truth of how important it is to stay connected with God. That means not only attending services and other events at your congregation, but time for personal and family prayer and reading. Without doing so, everything does start to fall apart. I know it does for me, and every time I get back to the proper balance in my life, God is faithful and restores and starts to put everything back together. Maybe next time I won’t walk away in the first place.
Shabbat Shalom. B”H
