And he said unto them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15
)
We are commanded to share the good news of Messiah with others. And truly, it just makes good sense. I have always thought of it like anything that has brought great pleasure or enjoyment into ones life. See a great movie and naturally you would try to persuade others to go and see the movie as well. Eat in a great restaurant and of course you would share that information. How much more valuable is the information about salvation. Why is it considered improper or impolite to share about the gift of eternal life?
This makes such easy to grasp sense that even an non-believer can grasp it. Even someone who does not believe in the existence of G-d can grasp that if you believe with all your heart that there is a G-d, that the promised Messiah has come and has brought forth forgiveness of sin, that He has set the captives free and provided salvation, the gift of eternal life, that the most natural and even the most responsible thing you can do is share that information. It seems selfish and irresponsible to hold on to it, especially if one feels uncomfortable with sharing it.
At least the is the view of Penn Jillette of the comedy and illusion team Penn and Teller. A video shown below has Penn sharing about a visitor to him after a show and his reflections on it. While he might not know his Bible well (Psalms is not part of the New Testament), I think his words are something that as believers we can all take to heart and know that if we know the good spiel, we should share that news with others. It makes good sense and it is commanded.
